    The End of Match 2024

So we have had a fabulous weekend at Willow Park Fishery, the lake was fishing well and we had 20 fish out over the weekend. Lots of family and friends came on the Saturday to show their support and get involved. Fridays weather was a bit hit and miss but the rest of the weekend stablised and wa dry and when wasn't blowing a gale it was mild, but with chilly nights.

We are still waiting for the last few bits of money to come in but are estimating a final total of between £4000 and £5000. Once the last of the money has come in we will annouce how we done. Yet again the raffle and auction did quite well and the bottle tombola was great as usual.

Out of the 16 pairs fishing, 10 caught. The fish all looked stunning and all fought well.

The hospitility at the lake was second to none and the food as always was amazing.

So the scores on the board at the end were as ollows

    1st - 78.02lb Albert Maclaren & Andy Maclaren

    2nd - 63.09lb Mike Walsh & Mike Grasick

    3rd - 55.05lb Sam Nightingale

    4th - 45lb Shawn Brewer & Alan Pugh

    5th - 36.08lb Damien Henners & Lee Barry

    6th - Andy Layland & Geoff Bishop

    7th - 25.12lb Steve & Tont Grant

    8th -  24.10lb Clinton Cooper & James Coleman

    9th - 23.04lb Nathan Palmer & Zak Hancock

    10th - 19.12lb Ian Palmer

Winning pair were Albert and Andy Maclaren with a weight of 78.02lb.

Biggest fish went to Steve Grant with a fish weighing 25.12lb.

Smallest fish went to Lee Barry with a fish weighing 14lb.

A big thank you to Mark and Amy and James at Willow for all the support and help

    Match Update

Things have been continuing to happen in the background in preparation for this years match. Prize donations are now coming in thick and fast with some brilliant prizes being donated. A full list of thanks will be posted after the match but we have had a tremendous amount of support.

We are hoping to get more of the general public down to the match on the Saturday for the social side of things with a flyer drop being done in the next couple of weeks.

Unfortunately we have had some drop outs from the pairs so we will have a couple of anglers fishing on their own this year but we are still at 16 pegs during the match.

    Updates & Sad news

So firstly I would like to apologise for the quietness over the last couple of months. We have had quite a bit going on, we have moved house and are now based in Bishop's Waltham. A lovely medieval village/town and some much needed distance from the hustle and bustle of the city of Winchester. We moved at the beginning of December so the house is still coming together but we will get there. Now for some not so happy news. We have had to sadly say farewell to not just one but 2 members of the cast-4-life family. Unfortunately we have had to say a sad farewell over the rainbow bridge,  to Skylar our beautiful german shepherd. She is hopefully having fun up there.

But we have also had to say a sad farewell to Martin Hancock AKA the Bowster. Martin has been with us since the beginning in 2012, he was more of a supporter in 2012, working at FLE whre we held the first match and giving us the behind the scenes support. In 2013 he then joined in with the actual fishing and then in 2015 when it became a pairs match he partnered up with Ian and the rest is history as they say. Unfortunately Martin had been struggling with his health for the last couple of years and on December 8th he was taken to hospital. Unfortunately the infection had too much of a hold and Martin sadly passed away on Demcember 16th at the age of 54. He leaves a big hole in the cast-4-life family and as such we will be doing a honor guard at his funeral to give him the send off he deserves. R.I.P Martin, catch a biggun up there.

  • 2023

    7/10/2023 NOT LONG TO GO.

So its now only 6 months until the match and things are going well in the background, we have donations coming in a plenty and we now have a 99% complete list of anglers competing for that trophy. I say 99% as we are just waiting on one of the anglers to confirm whats happening with their partner, so there may be a spot available yet. But we will see. We are hoping to get the trophies in the next couple of months, so keep your eyes peeled for them and we will shortly be posting a full list of anglers taking part.  We are also planning a trip to The Big One show in March hopefully we will get some backing from some of the  bussinesses whilst we are there.

    13/09/2023 DEADLINES AND DONATIONS.

So the time is upon us where the anglers wishing to take part have to pay the reminder of their entry fees. Any fees not fully paid by the deadline potentially means that the spot can and will be opened up to anglers on the reserve list. We do this for a couple of reasons, one is to makesure they are genuinely going to take part and two is to stop us having to  go around and chase people for their entry fees as we both work full time and we have had it in the past where we have been chasing people up until the match start date, and we have had others waiting in the background to get on the match. So entry fees now have to be paid plenty of time in advance to prevent this.

On another note donations have been coming in thick and fast so thank you to everyone who has donated so far. A full list of everyone who has donated will be published at a later date, but a massive thank you to those companies and individuals for thier support. We aim to have all donations in by the end of Feb/Beginning of Mar to allow time for thankyou posts to done and  for updates to auction/raffle lists.

    11/07/2023 HERE WE GO AGAIN!!

Well it's that time again. We have now started sending out donation requests ready for match. We do this now as it can take companies time to sort the donations but it also takes us time to sort them at our end. We not only have to decide what games they are going on but also keep and update a list of those who have donated for press releases etc but we also have to compile lists of prizes available so people get a heads up as to what they could potentially win on the Saturday.

We always like to have a cut off for recieving prizes for this reason but this year we have given it a fixed time period and date.

So if you are thinking of donating a prize please get in contact and we can send you delivery details.

The cutoff is 6 weeks prior to the match so in this case the 8th March 2024.

    24/06/2023 QUIETLY IN THE BACKGROUND

Its been a couple of months since our last update so thought we would give you all a quick update to whats been happening.

We have been quietly working behind the scenes on getting letters written and printed out ready for sending, we have also been desigining the leaflets for the event ready to be printed and dispatched around the local area of the lake.

We are trying to secure a face painter for the Saturday as well so there will be something for the kiddies to do.

So thats about it for the moment. things will start picking up towards the end of the year as we get closer to the match.

25/04/2023 UPDATED LIST AND PRIZE NEWS.

So after having a session at Willow a couple of weekends ago I realised that I had made a error when laying out the peg map for 2024. I had inadvertently put pegs together as a swim that it was impossible to do so. This error resulted in me looking at the map in general and realising there was comfortable space for a couple of swims. 1 had already been sort of in consideration anyway but the other was a decision after fifhing the match.

So we opened these pegs and have 2 new pairs to the anglers list.

    James Coleman & Clinton Cooper

    Sam Nightingale & Josh Pack.

We have also had our first donations come in, thanks to Shawn Brewer, Alan Pugh and Albert & Mandy Maclaren. We have a signed Dave Lane book, a hamemade scrouched bamboo & brass rod pod, a pair of hamemade pike floats ,and a set of 4 Handmade bobbins which light up on take.

We will be setting a firm deadline of Auction prize donations later in the year and will be accepting raffle/tombola prizes until the middle of March.

    04/04/2023 WOW THAT WAS QUICK!!!

So that was a record. The tickets went live at 17.30pm on the 1st April and by 19.00pm they had sold out. That is a record for us never have we sold out so quickly. We may also have a special guest fishing the match but are currently awaiting confirmation on that.

So who have we got for the 2024 match? below is a list of Anglers taking part.

    Ian Palmer & Martin Hancock

    Nathan Palmer & Zak Hancock

    Steve Grant & Tony Grant

    Mike Walsh & Mike Grassick

    Shawn Brewer  & Alan Pugh

    Andy Layland & Geoff Bishop

    Al Maclaren & Partner

    Chloe Mason & Arron Seymour

    Stu Stevens & Partner

    Matt Burnand & Partner

    Damien Henners & Lee Barry

    Sy Turner & Emma Moore

    Rhys Benneyworth & Jack Grice

    Derek Lerwill & Steve Sherstone

    Rob Lodwidge & Jay French.

    31/03/2023 TICKETS AVAILABLE TOMORROW

Tickets will be available for the 2024 from 17.30pm tomorrow. There is limited spaces available for this match so tickets will be done on a first come first serve basis.

If tickets are no longer available you can send your details over and we will put your name on the reserve list and if a spot becomes available we will be in contact.

    12/02/2023 UP UP AND AWAY.

So yesterday was a fun day. At last years auction we had been donated a bungee jump by Red Letter days and all the anglers all paid £5 each to see Ian do it, However it really isn't ians cup of tea so with the anglers agreement it was graciscally passed on to Callum. Well yesterday was the day. We travelled to Bray Lake in Windsor and Callum was harnessed up taken 160ft up and jumped. He absolutely loved the expierence and said he would do it again so watch this space. There are videos and photos of the jump on the cast-4-life group page and like page as well as on instagram for you to look at.

In other matters we now have a date for the 2024 match and this will be getting announced at the end of march, we didn't want to announce it before then due to going on holiday and not wanting to deal with anything whilst away, so once we are back we will announce the dates and get the entry deposit available in the store. Don't forget though we will only be having 15 pairs in 2024 so if you miss out on booking a deposit send us your details anyway as there will be a waiting list for spots if they become available.

    05/02/2023 WHATS BEEN HAPPENING.

So over the last month or so we have been having a play with the website and have tweaked a few things here and there. We have now added a Subscribe button to the home page as we have now started sending Newsletters out to keep everyone up to date with whats going on.

We were also due to hold a memorial at Chichester East lake in memory of Ian Pedwell who not only bailiffed the lakes, but was a dear friend and cast-4-life family member, unfortunately we have had to cancel this due to the lakes being under new management and when we reached out to them to see if they would honor what was agreed with the previuos GM, we got told that for reasons they couldn't disclose they were unable to offer the lakes for the event. This is very upsetting as Ian had been a member of their staff for years, and we had 2 very good matches at the venue. It wouldn't be right to hold it elsewhere as Ian lived and breathed those lakes so the decision has been to cancel it.

You can now purchase cast-4-life merchandise from our instagram and facebook pages, hopefully this addition will help pull additional funds in for Cancer Research UK. You will be redirected to the website to process and pay for your orders, but are able to make the inital purchases through these channels now.

We are hoping to get in contact with Willow over the coming weeks and set a date for the 2024 match. Unfortunately time constraints and family commitments have meant we have not been able to get to the lake as we would of liked to but hopefully we will have some news soon.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very merry christmas and a happy new year from us here at Cast-4-life.

Tickets will be available 12 months prior to the match and space will be limitied. So when the time comes you will need to get in quick.

There are a couple of changes in the pipeline for 2024 in that we will have drinks available to purchase on the Saturday during the social and that the bottle tombola was such a big sucess that we are going to keep it along with the smaller tombola. The fishy grids have now been retired from the programme but there will continue to be merchandise available to purchase, the designs have been trimmed down.

We hope to get a leaflet drop done around the local area as well to draw more people in to the Saturday afternoon.

Payments accepted will be cash but there will be the option to do paypal/bank transfer for all items going on.

On another note Callum will be doing his Bungee Jump that everybody put money in for on the 11th Febuary in Windsor, a video will be done and posted on the group/Like page and on insta.

    12/10/2022 ALL DONE!!

So the match was held at Willow Park last weekend and the weather held out for us. We had a couple of anglers drop out at the last minute but still had 37 fishing. Unfortunately we didn't hit the target figure of £10,000 it it was too be expected with the cost of living crisis. We have however managed a respectable £5331.73. So a massive well done to all who supported us and fished the match.

We would also like to say a massive shout out to everybody who donated prizes including Poingdestres Angling, Parker Baits, Korda, Nash, Fullers brewery, birdworld to name a few. A massive thank you to everybody at Willow for all their support and help over the weekend.  Now on to planning 2024.

    18/09/22 PRIZE DRAW PRICE REDUCTION

We have now reduced the prize draw tickets price. The ticket limits have also been increased, so for both draws you can now purchase 10 tickets per person max.

The Ebro tickets will cost you £10 per ticket or 10 for £80 a saving of £20, and the Bivvy tickets will cost £5 per ticket or 10 for £40 a saving of £10.

Dont miss your opportunity to get your tickets.

They are available in the store to purchased until Thursday 6th October.

    13/09/22 3 WEEKS TO GO

Not long now until Cast-4-life 2022 is upon us. There will be lots going on with Tombola, Raffle, Auction, Bottle raffle, and Prize draws taking place on Sat 8th Oct. The online tickets for the prize draws will close on Thursday 6th October 12pm.

Tickets will still be available at the venue until 11.30am.

The anglers are now busy getting sponsorship together and we have a couple of last minute donations to collect in the next couple of weeks so busy busy busy. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the live vids of the draw etc.

    15/08/22 PRIZE DRAWS

Our 3 prize draws are now live on the store page. Here you can purchase tickets for the relevant draw.

Up for grabs are a Advanta Bed Chair, Advanta Bivvy and of course the big one the trip for 2 to fish the River Ebro. Details about the draw are on the page.

    Good luck.

    15/07/22 DRAWING CLOSER

So the match is drawing ever closer now and will be here before we know it.

We have been busy in the background as normal and have had some amazing prizes donated including a signed tackle box form Korda Tackle and a amazing trip to spain to fish the Ebro River kindly donated by Paul Schilds from On The Ebro.

We still have some prizes coming in so there should be a good selection of goodies.

We are in the pipeline of hopefully getting something together with the Angling Trust but will announce it closer to the time if it all comes together. We really are hoing that we can hit that £10,000.00 this year.

    19/03/2022 DONATIONS A PLENTY

So we have a fantastic response so far. We have had some lovely donations in the form of some tickets, and tackle. We have had donations from Glastonbury Abbey, Golden Gecko Climbing, Furzey Gardens, Turtle Bay, Big Al's leads, Linear Fisheries, The Tank Museum, Nash Tackle, Bank Bound Carp Pics with Ian Russell, Fullers Brewery, Tangmere Aviation Museum, Touchwood Carvings, and Teamsport Eastleigh. We have a confirmed donation coming from Carp Art and possibly a few more to add to the list in the next couple of months.

We have also had the unfortunate event of a pair pulling out but we have decided against filling this spot and have instead decided to widen up a couple of the pegs.

05/02/2022 NEW YEAR AND PLANNING STARTS ANEW.

Well the start of the new year could not of gotten off to a worse start for the Cast-4-life family. We very sadly and suddenly lost one of our original 6 from 2012 who was an integal part of helping start the first match, designing the logo and supporting us in the background until more recently starting the sponsorship with The White Vape Co.  He will be a great loss to cast 4 life as well as a big personal loss to ourselves.

In other news our sponsorship with The White Vape Co will continue and hopefully we will have more news on that later in the year.

We have began collecting donations for the raffle/Auction and already have a couple of prizes lined up, with more hopefully to come in.

We have plenty of key rings and badges available in the shop and within the next week the pens should also be back in stock. We plan to have QR codes set up at the match for ease of purchasing.

  • 2021

    11/12/2021 STORE UPDATE

We have just updated the store today with a new range of keyrings and have also updated the pin badges. Thanks to our sponsorship with The White Vape Co we have purchased a badge making machine so we are able to produce as many as we like without having to get an outside company to make them meaning 100% of the profits go to Cancer research UK. The same applies to the keyrings again through the sponsorship we were able to purchase the key rings and make these ourselves.

We hope that after christmas we will also have a stock of the engraved ball point pens and some generic Cast 4 Life clothing in stock including hopefully a couple of new lines including Baseball caps, flat peak caps, Adult t-shirts, kids t-shirts and polo shirts with a new design also possibly making an appearence on the hoodies. So watch this space.

In other news after christmas we will be starting the preparation work in earnst and have partnered up with the Netley Steam and craft fair to help at their event and they have offered their assistnce as well as a donation to Cast 4 Life. This is a partnership we are looking forward to and hoping it will continue in the future.

The Saturday of the match may change slighlty in that the social break may be longer than in other years due to having a couple of prize draws on the go as well as the raffle and auction. We will also be doing a tombola. There will be no food at the social this year due to the lake having its own cafe on site (who will be providing the anglers/marshals with thier food package) but we will be in talks with them regarding the supporters etc to see if there is something we can put in place to help us hit that elusive 10k target.

    21/09/2021 WE HAVE OUR ANGLERS

So the spots for 2022 have been filled and we have our anglers, we are still looking for Marshals and there will be a reserve angler list so if you would like to put your name for either of these then just drop us a message using the contact us page. Well the match has finished for now and what a match it was. The lake fished hard with every angler struggling to fond the fish and the average weight being a low to mid double. However every pair caught at least 1 fish.

We are also now starting to think about our 10th birthday match which is to take place in 2022. When we have a venue and match format confirmed we will open up the store so that sign up can be completed, unlike in previous years you will need to actually purchase your entry ticket and pay the fee at the time of purchase, this is to save us from having to chase people for the entry fee's due past the deadline.

    24/09/2020  WEBSITE STORE UPDATE

We have been busy in the wings designing a store where Cast-4-life merchandise can be purchased and the store is now up and running. Please be aware that some of the items are currently out of stock until we get some bits in and that the clothing is ordered from our supplier at time of purchase so please be aware it can take up to 4 weeks to get the item in and to you as these items are personalised and made to order.

The store is also now where you will pay your entry fee for the match and will only be made available to purchase when the new matches open up, and will have a limited number available, this does mean that if you are paying for you and your partner you will need to select 2 in the quanity  section.  Paypal is the only method of payment currently available however you do not need to have a paypal account as you can sign in as a guest to make your purchase.

23/06/2020 RESULTS OF MINI AUCTION ONLINE

In light of the current pandemic we have had to postpone the match until next year. However because we had already had some donations with use by dates on we decided to do a mini auction on the group page to get those bits gone so they could be used before the expiry date.

We auctioned off 5 items and with a couple of online donations as well we made a total of £300. This will be carried over to the match next year and once finished we will have a grand total for the year 2020/2021.

We have had confirmation of the new dates as well for the postponement, the match will now be held from Friday 30th July - Sunday 1st August 2021.

    12/06/2020 COVID-19 UPDATE

We have unfortunately made the decision to postpone the 2020 match due to the ongoing covid situation. Due to the government and angling trust guidelines regarding gatherings and social distancing we would not be able to safely hold the match this year and have now postponed it until 2021 towards the end of July, we are just waiting on confirmation of dates from the lake. Any donations etc will be carried over to the new match date.

    22/04/2020 COVID-19 UPDATE

So as things stand at the moment we have decided that in light of the government restrictions still being in place we will wait until the middle of June to make a final decision on whether this years match will go ahead. If it is decided to postpone the match we will arrange for it to happen in July of 2021 but any raffle prizes that contain an expiry date on we will either try and get the dates extended or if this is not an option then we will set up an auction for these items alone on the facebook page sometime in August.

Unfortunately if we do have to postpone the match it will mean a shorter time period between it and the next match which will go ahead as planned in 2022, and which we hope will be something special as it will be 10 years since cast 4 life was born, but watch this space to see what the outcome is.

    16/03/2020 CORONAVIRUS AND THE MATCH

As things stand at the moment the match will be going ahead as planned and its business as usual, we are hoping that by the time the match is upon us the Coronavirus will have faded away or to a level where some form of normality is happening. We will be keeping an eye on it and if anything changes we will let everyone know what the new plan is, but we are hoping it won't come to that.

    02/03/2020 5 MONTHS TO GO!!!

Things are starting to come together now and prizes are coming in, so far we have had donations from Angling direct, Seven lakes fishery, Birdworld, Dever Springs fishery to name a few, we have some prizes coming from Chichester lakeside which are still to be confirmed but they will be tickets for fishing that much we do know. All the paperwork for the anglers is coming together nicely and we have our marshals all lined up.

    28/01/2020 7 MONTHS AND COUNTING!!

So it has been an eventful month as we had to unfortunately remove 1 pair form the match line up due to non communication or payment of entry fees even after numerous tries on our part, however as suspected it didn't take long for the spot to be filled and we now welcome Ryan and Joey to the fold. Ryan was lined up to me a marshal for us but we now hopefully have the 6 marshals all sorted.

We are also now accepting donations for prizes either for the raffle or the auction. Auction prize donations are to reach us by 31st July and raffle donations by 14th August. If there is anything you would like to donate please drop us a message and we can sort out collection or drop off. The auction prizes deadline will be a firm deadline as I need to get a auction booklet made up to put in the caravan park reception as they are kindly placing a poster in the reception for the event Saturday social.

The park have also said that we are able to place collection buckets at the reception and in the club house for donations and they are willing to sell raffle tickets for the Saturday at the reception. They have also given the all clear for some tickets for fishing to be donated as prizes, we will be confirming which tickets nearer the time. The park Manager has been a great help and his support for the match has also been wonderful. We are hoping he may be able to pop over during the course of the match but as it is peak season at the park the parks needs will come first for him as expected.

We are really looking forward to the match this year and we really hope with all your help we will smash the £5000 we raised last year.

03/01/2020   ONLY 8 MONTHS TO GO!!!!!!

So now the real work begins, we have 8 months until the match and things are moving along quite nicely, there has been a slight change in the line up of anglers as we say goodbye to Mark Cox & Darren Grandsen but we welcome in their place Damian Henners & Lee Barry.

There is a new sponsorship form as well which can be downloaded from the Donations page, another change this year is that there will be no hog roast, however we will be doing a BBQ on the Saturday afternoon instead.
